Advantages/Disadvantages of each system

Flat nappies

Advantages

• Quick Drying,
• Versatile
• One size will fit newborn up to toddler
• Cheapest option

Disadvantages

• Involves Folding
• Containment not as good as a shaped nappy
• Initially bulky on a small baby

Shaped Nappies

Advantages

• Elasticated legs and waist prevent leaks
• Can be slim fitting
• Various fabrics and fastenings available

Disadvantages

• Can be more expensive (still cheaper than disposables)
• Some fabrics/designs are slow drying (not all)

Pocket Nappies

Advantages

• Quick to dry
• Very easy to use/One piece to put on baby
• Can be very slim fitting
• Absorbency can be adjusted with extra pads

Disadvantages

• Generally more expensive
• Containment/Absorbency not always as good as a shaped nappy and wrap

All-In-Ones

Advantages

• Very easy to use/One piece to put on baby

Disadvantages

• Slow to dry as all layers sewn together
• Less absorbent than others/may need a booster for longer use
• Generally more expensive
